food and fishing

Well what a hot weekend, we went fishing on Saturday total catch = 6 bream, total we could eat = 0. They all went back because they were too small, never mind at least we caught something this time, and we didn't have anything fall into the water like last time.

Friday night I cooked the yummiest asian honey chicken, another one to add to the list of things to cook.

Well keep cool, until next time.

floods and fast flowing water

Well this has been a busy week with being on flood alert, the Hopkins river rising hour by hour on Monday, luckily it didn't peak as high as they expected during the early hours of Monday morning.

Even though the river has dropped by about 4 metres it is still very high.

To cooking last night I made my version of butter chicken, very nice even my husband enjoyed after pulling a face when I told him what we would be having for tea.

If you would like the recipe drop me a line.

quilts, quilts and more quilts

Well a tidy up revealed that I have 8 quilt tops of various sizes to be put together and quilted. When my daughter is back to "work", I will start to quilt them.

I made a delicious recipe last week, a cross between a shepherds pie using a form of bolognaise sauce. I used this recipe from Not Quite Nigella but I placed the sauce on th bottom and put creamy mash potato - I didn't put any sour cream in it - then sprinkled it with cheese, tasty and parmesan.

It came out of the oven bubbling with a crisp cheesy top, my husband had seconds, he said that he would have that any time.

Until next time.
